Younger men grow older.
Business as usual Wednesday night after last week's mad collaboration with Tom Casetta.
Got a new one from singers Nicole Wray & Terri Walker on their
transcendent new release on Truth & Soul simply called Lady. Plus, more from Charles Bradley and Nicole Willis' new LPs, sweetness from Kev Beadle's new jazz dance compilation and another from the newest entry in Jazzman's Spiritual Jazz series, this time featuring Grachan Moncur! And sadly, we'll pay tribute to the recently departed Richie Havens. Be there, peoples.

A very rare evening.
Back at it Wednesday night. Barney Wilen's Moshi remains one of the most elusive LPs from the European scene. In fact, I've never seen
a copy let alone own one! However, Germany's Sonorama Records just
released a mess of unreleased tracks from the French tenorman's personal
archives, appropriately named Moshi Too,
so let's check out music from the legendary road trip. Plus, more
spirtual jazz from that great new album from Lance Ferguson's Menagerie, Numero's reissue of classic Syl Johnson and some Estonian jazzfunk from Jaan Kuman.

Back on the scene (1st Mt. Airy Groove)
And we're back with a fresh new name, but the same funky vinyl
grooves you've come to expect on Wednesday nights. The long hiatus
means we're bursting at the seams with new jams to bring your way.
Let's check out Secret Stash Records latest excavation, Peter King's African Dialects and a new one from Lance Ferguson, the leader of The Bamboos from Australia, as he makes a foray into spiritual jazz with his new band, Menagerie. Plus, the debut of an unreleased album from Kenny Cox on the legendary Strata label and some music from Light in the Attic's incredible Marcos Valle reissue series.

Best of the rest.
Still got leftovers in my sack from last week's Best of 2012 show, so let's see what remains from a great year of vinyl releases, including a whole set from the Jazzman label (yes, this means more Greg Foat!). Plus, some great live late era Art Pepper, Get On Down's reissue of the lost Archie Whitewater album, and a final salute to Fontella Bass.

Keyboard heavy grooves goin' down at the Junction Wednesday night. The Greg Foat Group returns with another great analogue recording and it's just as great as last year's debut! Plus, we learned about Dave Brubeck's passing
just before leaving for last week's show, so let's pay proper tribute
to a true legend in jazz. And the usual vinyl-only madness will ensue,
including scores from the Philadelphia Record Riot...see you then!

Power of Soul.
Stop by the Junction Wednesday night for some great new vinyl grooves. Out of nowhere, the Greg Foat Group returns with an EP close on the heels of last year's now classic release and in anticipation of a full length coming out in the next two weeks. But that's not all! The Menahan Street Band just released their 2nd album, Finnish reedman Timo Lassy's got a new one, and we'll spin the soundtrack to Searching for Sugarman, a documentary about the enigmatic folk/funk of the elusive Rodriguez. Plus, a batch of Hendrix covers celebrating the man's 70th birthday!

Dusty fingers.
Blame James Mason 'cause we're still in a sweet '70s groove at the
Junction. We'll hear yet another great track from Mason's impossibly
rare but recently reissued opus, Rhythm of Life, in addition to some other great tracks in the same vein from Miroslav Vitous & Matthew Larkin Cassell. Plus, heavy sounds from Woody Shaw and fonky flute from Jeremy Steig and a happy birthday to Jerry Garcia via Merl Saunders, all spun on 100% vinyl...natch.

Sly like a fox.
Dig it, good stuff going down at the Junction tonight. More from the great new release from the Filthy Six,
in addition to one from their 2010 debut. Plus, a classic from Sam
& Dave, heavy sounds from the Electric Prunes, George Benson's take
on the Beatles' Abbey Road, and a blowing session from the "Wailin'
Mailman," Buck Hill! Stop by! Plus, rockin' fresh new needles, courtesy of The Needle Doctor. Special thanks to Pat for his help! And happy birthday to DJ Lippy!

Rhythm of life.
Make a stop at the Junction tonight for 100% vinyl funkiness. Two
weeks off means we are brimming with new releases to bring your way.
Get ready for a new one from the Filthy Six,
an album that pays homage to the classic Blue Note/Prestige organ funk
albums of the late '60s. Plus, a fantastic reissue of the ultra-rare Ron Forella...Moves! LP, which was originally created to accompany a NYC dance troupe performance. But, best of all, James Mason's impossibly scarce masterpiece, Rhythm of Life,
was just reissued by a Japan's Shout label, and since I never thought
I'd come across a copy, let me tell you, it was worth the wait! Come on
in!
