is 20 years old! Got some killer samples for you, the kind that are
embedded in some deeeeep jazz tracks. Plus, let's delve into the Stanton Davis Brighter Days alternate takes along with cuts from the original LP and hear more from that necksnappin' album from Dope Gems!

A wild and wooly show coming this Wednesday at the Groove. Got a supercool one from Dope Gems,

jazz funk. That's our bag! Plus, a set of Dylan covers to go along
with the great gospel take on Zim's music, Monty Alexander covering Herbie Hancock and outtakes from the Stanton Davis Brighter Days sessions!

Keys to the Kingdom.
Join the Groove next Wednesday for some more funkiness. Got a stack from my man Calvin Keys! Plus, music from the last two albums from the ultra funky French band, Cortex and more from Mighty Mighty. And in the spirit of Saturday's New Deck Party, I got the 2nd of the first two records I picked up in my first foray into record diggin'. Stop on by.

Goin' places.
Good stuff hitting the turntables this week at the Groove. Nashville soul man DeRobert Adams just dropped his 2nd full length with his crack band, The Half-Truths. Sweet! Meanwhile, on the other side of the soul spectrum, Ethiopian jazz legend Mulatu Astatke just released a new one with a new incarnation of his band, Steps Ahead. Killer! Plus, the usual funkiness will ensue, including more from Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings and tributes to two jazz legends whose passing in late December slipped under the radar!

Back to regular funky programming after a few weeks revolving around Montreux and the JazzMom. Got some good stuff to bring your way: Brazilian bounce from Di Melo, funky German fusion from Third Eye, and rubbery grooves from British bassman, Ross McHenry . Plus, some incredible music from the really lost Miles Davis Quartet, recorded live at Newport in 1969!

West coast.
Loads of killer electric piano looming this Wednesday. Got west coast jazz funk from elusive keyboardist Herman Eberitzsch, Atlantic records soul jazz from Gary Burton and some bouncin' riddims from Monty Alexander. Plus, more from The Stepkids, the Poets of Rhythm and those great comps from Bob James & The Blackbyrds (including tunes from the Cornbread, Earl & Me OST!) See you Wednesday.
