Mt. Airy Groove

Smooth good.

Ready to get back to funky vinyl after last week's spooky Fewsh Junction round three & wild Halloween rock show. Luaka Bop records returns to the scene with another entry to their fantastic World Psychedelic Classic series, fast on the heels of the superb Tim Maia volume 4, this time answering the question Who is William Onyeabor? Plus, instrumental reggae from Winston Wright, the Soul Searchers covering JB, and a tribute to late great Lou Reed, Mt. Airy Groove style. You better run, run run!

Oh! Pioneers!

Early '90s German deep funk pioneers The Poets of Rhythm just got anthologized! These guys were very much responsible for the real funk revival of the mid to late 1990s and inspired important popular acts like Sharon Jones & Lee Fields and labels like Daptone and Truth & Soul. So in addition to checking out some excellent and rare music from the Poets of Rhythm, let's hear some music from lost luminaries like Joseph Henry, The Soul Command and J.D. & The Evil Dynamite Band on defunct labels like Desco and Soul Fire, all of whom were integral in bringing deep funk back to the masses. Stop by.
